In 2018, the Foundation continued to support the School’s development, as it has done since 2009, thanks to the generosity of companies, alumni, and friends. From research chairs to funding for bursaries to projects like the “Learning Expedition”, these initiatives – which certainly aren’t lacking in daring or spirit! – are made possible through donations.
THEY SUPPORT US
We would like to thank our graduates, friends and business patrons, who support the School every year in increasing numbers.

UNWAVERING SUPPORT
The friends and graduates of the School have worked very hard for the Foundation again this year. A fundraising platform was created and the donations collected have financed new bursaries and two student projects.

Audacieux Ensemble

Audacieux Ensemble
More and more of you are getting involved every year. Thank you all!
Alumni and friends of the School invited to take part in the Audencia Foundation’s Audacieux Ensemble fundraising initiative were happy to accept. With €70,000 raised in 2018 compared to €45,000 in 2017, there has been a marked increase in take-up.
Of the three possible uses for the donations made by alumni, the free fund (a long-term fund used for supporting the School in the areas of greatest need) came out on top, followed by social and cultural inclusion bursaries and support for entrepreneurship.
A dedicated fundraising platform was created, with the option for graduates to share their memories of their time at the School, and a phone campaign was a chance to talk to students and find out about fundraising issues. The message was well received: with the change to the business model, tuition fees are no longer enough on their own to enable business schools to stay innovative and prepare their students for the transitions and social challenges of today.
Thanks to such generosity, essential to the profile of the School and associated network, new projects are now coming on line. Just two examples:
- the Learning Expedition to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and Silicon Valley organised at the beginning of January.
- new social inclusion bursaries are being developed, such as those aimed at supporting students on the MFM programme (Music Industry Management), which is all about diversity-led recruitment for training the people who will be involved in the transformation of this sector.
The Audacieux Ensemble campaign therefore ended on a positive note on 31 December. And moving from business to pleasure, anyone donating more than €100 received a bottle of wine from the vintage for their graduation year, under the Millésime Audencia project.

Millésime Audencia: new momentum for the fund devoted to entrepreneurial projects
Financing a project by uncorking a bottle? Yes, it’s possible!
About a year ago, Valentin and Florentin put a unique idea forward at the #ClassGift pitching session: selling a Graduation Vintage to outgoing graduates and passing on some of the profits to the Foundation for financing entrepreneurial projects run by our students. For every bottle purchased, €5 is passed on to the Audencia Foundation and its Class Gift fund to finance entrepreneurial and non-profit projects set up by the students from the School. This helps to create a connection between different graduating classes because, via the Class Gift, an outgoing graduating year group finances the projects of following year groups. One year on, they have pulled off the challenge, with around 800 bottles sold and €3,880 passed on to the Foundation. The fund will be awarded to students at the School at the #ClassGift 2019 pitch session in April.
Since then, Valentin and Florentin have also assisted the Foundation with Audacieux Ensemble fundraising, offering a bottle of the Graduate Vintage to graduates donating €100 or more to the annual fundraising campaign launched by the School Foundation.

1st LEX devised, co-organised and 100% financed by graduates
In January, six Audencia students embarked on an inspiring trip to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and California, organised and financed by School graduates.
Encouraged by previous trips to the CES in Las Vegas, where they found much food for thought and expanded their network, graduates from the Club Audencia des Dirigeants de l’Ouest (the Audencia club for executives in the west of France), mostly based in Nantes and the west, decided to take students from the School across all programmes and classes along with them on their next trip to the United States.
The Audencia Foundation launched a fundraising campaign. In response to a call for applications, 61 students presented their projects and supporting arguments in two selection phases. Six winners were chosen in the end:
- Xi Jin, a Chinese student working on a full time MBA, who has just created a company to support Chinese students when they are studying abroad
- Niels Rolland, a student on the Grande École programme, who has just joined forces with two friends from HEC and EDHEC to create Ticoon, “the first blockchain and decentralisation factory”
- Fiona Ge Cao, a Chinese IMM student, who wants to blend innovation, the food industry and CSR with her cookie cup project
- Romain Gardereau and Chloé Zirah, Grande École students who work on a digital platform for putting psychologists and employees in touch with each other
- Camille Gras, a bachelor student for whom the trip is “a unique opportunity to fine-tune my expertise for my project focusing on marketing and automation. It’s also a chance to learn from the graduates we meet on the trip, the people who work in Silicon Valley and the people going with us from France”.
Once in Las Vegas, the students had a totally immersive experience with graduates and businesses. Then they flew on to Silicon Valley. On the agenda: visits to Facebook, Plug & Play, GitHub and Inbenta and a meeting with the new graduate group from San Francisco at a networking event with an inspiring host. A unique and valuable experience for students looking for professional references.
SUPPORT FOR BUSINESSES AND REGIONS
Thanks to the support of new sponsors and partners, 2018 saw the creation of new research chairs on territorial intelligence and on the financing of in-company innovation.

Audencia and REALITES join forces to promote regional intelligence
The Chair in Realities – Creating Regional Intelligence was created in September 2018. It enabled the creation of a “Joint Lab”, joining employees from the Réalités Group with a dedicated Audencia team. The aim of the Think Tank: modelling a way for designing innovative construction and urban development projects and working effectively in support of regional development. The partnership also includes a teaching arm, with students from the Specialised Masters® programme.
In this way, the Réalités Group, a regional developer in western France and Ile-de-France, confirms its desire to support a key academic provider in its own area, as emphasised by Yoann Choin-Joubert: “A shared adventure that will benefit REALITES through the creativity provided by this prestigious School, and useful to Audencia and its students via the specific cases that we will be working on.”

Creation of the Finance for Innovation Chair
2018 saw the creation of the “Finance for Innovation” Chair, which aims to facilitate a better understanding of the logic, practices and specific features of financing businesses and innovative projects in very different contexts: start-ups; medium-sized and large firms; social or technically radical innovations.
The Chair’s research activity relates to three main areas: raising the profile of start-ups, relationships between investors and entrepreneurs and financing social innovation (including Social Impact Bonds). These priority areas are followed closely by financing via crowdfunding and Deep Tech financing.
The Chair is producing work that is very close to the realities on the ground and the needs of economic stakeholders, and is evidence of a true co-R&D approach with its partners.
