A new marketing option incorporating CSR issues
Devoted to operational marketing and the development of the specific tools required for successfully selling goods and services, the first semester looked at a number of examples of companies employing CSR practices. Based on the theoretical concepts taught in class, students ran a marketing project involving the development of a product or service. The examples assessed in class encouraged them to subject the CSR policy of the companies in question to objective analysis. Some of the students chose a brand and company that they particularly liked for the project. “They are often disappointed when they see a major discrepancy between a company’s CSR rhetoric and its actual practice. The disillusionment phase is followed by a research phase, looking into what constitutes good CSR practice and the means by which the company could improve,” says José Maillet, lecturer and researcher. “Working to establish consistency across the different areas of CSR gives them a sense of fulfilment. Most of the students actively chose to scrutinise CSR practice and develop marketing policy that shows greater consideration for society and the environment.”

Marion Creach, GE 2018 CSR graduate award
Every year, a CSR award is handed out at the graduation ceremony for the Grande École Programme Master in Management, commending a student for his or her commitment – throughout their time at Audencia Business School – to their community, professional or extra-curricular activity, be this on- or off-campus. Selection is based on the extent of the positive impact of their activity, the ability to bring people on board with a project, and a consistent track record.
Marion Creach received the CSR award for the 2018 graduating year group. Her commitment in terms of both her choice of internships with a CSR impact and her initiatives within the School, with the students, was publicly recognised. Marion set up a skills volunteering platform for students in close collaboration with the Audencia CSR department, and a mutual assistance programme for immigrants, two great projects that will be introduced in 2019.
They represent student involvement in line with Audencia values in the field of education which aspire to shaping the responsible managers of the future.

Together for Earth !
Together for Earth is the youth movement for the protection of the planet, launched by students from the Centrale-Audencia-Ensa Alliance in March 2018. Their objective is to get young people enthusiastic about the protection of the planet.
Students visited 13 primary schools in Nantes 80 times in 2018 to raise children’s awareness of various environmental issues such as waste and protecting bees. They also organised a waste collection race with the RunEcoTeam association in Nantes and ran an initiative for schoolchildren in Nantes with the Observatoire Français de l’Apidologie as part of their Des Fleurs pour les Abeilles (Flowers for Bees) campaign in June 2018. Finally, they worked with higher education establishments to see that environmental issues are a bigger part of curricula, running a sixteen-hour module for first-year students at Centrale Nantes.
Student members of the movement created the Together for Earth network a few months ago, which brings together student associations addressing environmental issues. The network will enable associations to communicate with each other more, share ideas and initiative resources, encourage each other to run joint campaigns and attain greater visibility with the media and schools, etc.

Introduction of a DBA in Sustainable Development and Philanthropy
The DBA Audencia Sustainable Development and Philanthropy (DBA SDP) has been created in partnership with the China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI). The CGPI was founded by five Chinese and US philanthropists, Bill Gates, Ray Dalio, Niu Gensheng, He Qiaonyu and Ye Qingjun, with the aim of introducing an education system that “will cultivate exemplary philanthropists and executive philanthropists” and contribute to the development of philanthropy in China and around the world.
The DBA SDP combines Audencia expertise in responsible management and sustainability with the philanthropic power of the CGPI, offering training to participants wishing to carry out doctoral research. The first cohort of the Audencia-CGPI programme begins in 2019 with teachers from Audencia and CGPI and industry experts contributing to the programme. Audencia and CGPI are supervising DBA theses and organising thesis defences. The DBA programme with CGPI showcases the expertise of the Audencia teaching body in the areas of research, sustainable development, CSR and responsible management, reinforcing the School’s position in terms of the DBA provision in China.
