Audencia, the only School in France to win the Aspen Institute “Ideas Worth Teaching” prize
The Aspen Institute chose 20 winning courses from around the world at the “Ideas Worth Teaching Awards” in 2018. Delivered as part of MBA or equivalent programmes, the courses are deemed “exceptional, preparing future managers to respond to the greatest social challenges and to create a more inclusive, fairer and more sustainable version of capitalism”.
The “Alternative Economic Models” course delivered by Sandrine Stervinou, Audencia professor and manager of the Business & Society department, and developed with the support of Elvire Bornand, Céline Louche, Laura Nirello, Cécile Renault and Claire-Isabelle Roquebert, was the only French course to win. It is aimed at students with a general grounding in economics and gives an insight into new business models and solutions offering an alternative to conventional economic theory. The world is changing rapidly and, given this fact, the conventional economy doesn’t provide the models and solutions necessary for addressing global problems (poverty, inequality, financial crisis, climate change). The course opens up the debate, raising awareness in students, so that they consider these developments and shape their own critical thinking. This presentation of the wide range of possibilities and solutions is intended to encourage students to be innovative, creative and inclusive.
