NEXT STOP HYBRIDISATION! INNOVATING, ENHANCING, EXPANDING...

As attractive as ever, with a renewed and consolidated ranking at 6^th place in the SIGEM business school admission system, Audencia remained the number one choice for preparatory class students in 2018. Pushing back the boundaries of skills hybridisation, the School opened new double degree and joint programmes with Aix-en-Provence Law Institute, Sciences Po Rennes, the French Institute of Petroleum and New Energies, and the Magelis Image Centre, among others. This dynamic forms part of a more global approach of spin-offs in France and abroad and offers Grande École programme students the pick of over 70 personalised specialisation pathways.

“When I arrived as director of the Grande École programme in 2017, I made several commitments, including to build on the programme’s internationalisation, an expanded range of courses, pathways and double degrees, and, of course, its professionalisation,” recalls programme director Nicolas Arnaud. “Skills hybridisation is central to our development strategy. In 2018, we focused on approving new joint and double degrees. As a result, we now offer our Grande École programme students over 70 different pathways.”

The first milestone in the hybridisation strategy was the signing of the Audencia/Sciences Po Rennes partnership on 28 June 2018, giving students from both institutions the opportunity to enrol for a double degree as of the start of the academic year in September. At the end of their course, they will have a choice between the Audencia Master in Management (Grande École programme) or one of the Specialised Masters® and the national master’s degree at Sciences Po Rennes. The 7 options available at Sciences Po Rennes include:

Network Urban Services Engineering: Cities in the Making
Earth and Sea
European and World Affairs
Innovative Strategies in Urban areas: Anticipating Change

“Our partnership with Sciences Po Rennes is highly active. Other developments are under discussion,” adds Nicolas Arnaud.

Nantes/Aix/Paris/Angoulême/Rennes… Audencia has a regional partnership and spin-off policy, primarily motivated by hybridisation across ecosystems which makes sense given its managerial expertise. In the case of the Audencia/Institute of Business Law double degree course in Aix, structured on same model as that signed with Sciences Po Rennes: “Our students can find options related to their specialisation: business law, taxation, international business law, sports law, etc. The idea is to develop personalised pathways with high added value,” explains Nicolas Arnaud, director of the Audencia Grande École programme.

A joint degree with the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP) to prepare for the challenges of energy transition

The MSc in Management in the Energy Industry, open to fourth year Grande École programme students, was designed for those wishing to work in energy consulting or trading. The IFP contributes its expertise and know-how in the fields of energy (petroleum and gas, electricity, engines, new energy technologies) to the programme, meeting the needs of the industry and the demands of society in terms of technological innovation and sustainable development.

Teaching is in English and includes an “Advanced Management Courses” semester at Audencia, then another at the IFP studying “Petroleum Economics & Management”, and finally an end-of-course internship and co-validation of the degree by both partners. As Nicolas Arnaud, Grande École programme director, observes: “This is a real chance for our students, who now have access to quality teaching in two complementary structures recognised internationally in their respective sectors”.

“Over 50% of master’s students and 30% of first-year bachelor’s students take their course in English. In 2019, I want to develop the English track and make sure that half (or more) of the Audencia Grande École students have the opportunity to study in English,” says Nicolas Arnaud, programme director. He then moves on to talk about new developments that will enhance the programme’s existing offer: “We are launching an International Vintage double degree course with the ESA (higher education establishment specialising in agriculture) in Angers, which will focus on the vintage, production and marketing of wine. The course includes three semesters of study – in Villa Real in Portugal, Piacenza in Italy and Angers respectively – plus a learning expedition. It is entirely taught in English and overseen by a South African member of teaching staff.” The new course ties in with the co-creation of the Collaborative Institute for Global Agribusiness announced at the end of November 2018.
